Road to Copenhagen: last stop for climate action before Poznan

Next week sees the GLOBE-sponsored conference entitled ‘Road to Copenhagen: Last Stop for Climate Action before Poznan’ taking place in Brussels on 6 November. The initiative builds upon the Global Leadership for Climate Action project launched in 2007 by the Club of Madrid and the United Nations Foundation and the ongoing work of GLOBE with legislators and Respect Table with the business community.

The event will be chaired by Margot Wallström, Vice President of the European Commission, Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and Vice President of the Club of Madrid and Gro Harlem Brundtland, former Prime Minister of Norway and UN Special Envoy on Climate Change. It offers the chance for business, legislators and civil society to have their voice heard and to contribute towards finalising a Communique and Issue Paper for the upcoming conference in Poznan.

These papers will be directly delivered to policy makers at Poznan through our chairs and different networks, and therefore gives critical actors from various areas the chance to influence formal negotiations at the UN. MPs can access and contribute towards the Communiqué and recommendations online, through the Road to Copenhagen website
